Social media has a major role to play in customer relations
Companies should encourage employees to use social media websites as a way of interacting with customers, according to an expert, who believes that using them can help firms to increase discussion about their products.
People looking for sales jobs should use social media intelligently once they get into a role, said Jason Falls, a social media consultant and blogger on socialmediaexplorer.com.
He recommended that sales employees use the social media sites both internally and externally in order to boost a firm's credibility online and build relationships with customers.
"It probably shouldn't be with the mindset of hard-selling your product or service, but it does put a number of people at a touch point with you through their activity," he said.
The third wave of results from the Small Business Success Index recently showed that 75 per cent of companies surveyed have a company page on a social networking site.
