Sales jobs boosted in media sector

Media sales recruitment has received a boost with the news that more people are buying electronic games for consoles like Microsoft's Xbox.

Bill Gates' company saw a massive 73 per cent growth in sales of downloads for the game station, which is good news for sales jobs.

Videogames experts Imagine Games Network (IGN) released the figures and said that digital sales were now dominating the sector and dwarfing physical purchases made in stores.

Game developer Valve also recorded a 97 per cent increase in Steam sales, which allows gamers to download new games.

The Popzara games blog stated: "It would be interesting to see if digital sales trends parallel their retail counterparts, as recent reports have shown a growing interest in older, evergreen titles outpacing newer releases."

Microsoft's Xbox has recently seen its second consecutive year of profitability with the console selling around 11 million units compared to more than eight million in 2008.
